At Valley Dental we offer various types of teeth whitening. From a 20 minutes touch up whitening to a 2 hour treatment with lasting results we offer free consultations for any patient, established or new to our practice. Although some types of teeth whitening can have lasting results, it is not permanent. A touch-up maybe needed every few years, especially if you smoke, drink coffee, tea or wine.
Teeth whitening is a simple treatment used to change the color of natural enamel and is an ideal way to enhance and ensure the beauty of your smile. Whiter teeth have now become the number one visual concern of patients. Home whitening systems have become the most popular way of dramatically whitening smiles.
Teeth Whitening is used for:
• Normal staining of the outer tooth layer
• Stained teeth due to medications and other daily habits
Traditional teeth whitening usually require two visits. At the first appointment, impressions will be made of your teeth to fabricate custom clear plastic whitening trays. You will try on the trays for proper fit at your second appointment and adjustments will be made if necessary. The trays are worn with a special whitening solution for a period of time depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening. It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but after you have stopped bleaching it should subside.
You can expect to have a little of the color return from the time you stop whitening. Therefore, it is best to whiten for a week or two beyond your desired color to account for this small amount of color that will return. You will be provided care instructions for your teeth and trays, and you will be encouraged to visit either Dr. Gavin or Dr. Pendleton regularly to help maintain a beautiful, healthy, white smile.
